Cleaning makeup brushes is probably one of my least favourite activities and I do it far less often than I really should. For years I’ve been talking about how someone should set up a makeup laundrette as it would be a game-changer for most gals. I’d love to set it up myself (despite my hate for actually doing it) but I’ve not yet figured out the logistics of quick turnaround times, insurance and all the rest of it, but maybe one day! Anyway, the point of this blog wasn’t to sell my business idea (Dragon’s Den I’m coming for ya), but to talk about how I clean my brushes in the most effective way I have found so far, without any technical tools or fancy products. Here goes…
For Christmas last year I was very lucky to have been gifted a Cloud 9 The Airshot hairdryer from my mum. Although I wasn’t in desperate need of a hairdryer (or at least I didn’t think I was), I was very happy to be swapping my 5+-year-old hairdryer for something newer. My sister has a set of Cloud 9 hair straighteners, and I love them, they’re the same kind of quality that I’d expect from GHD’s and look lovely, so I was excited to try out this new hairdryer! I’ve had this review half-written for a number of months now, but after two of my friends asked for my honest thoughts on this product, I thought that it was about time that I finished it up!
Having been on the hunt for the perfect foundation for almost 10-years now, I decided to splurge on something a little more high-end. If you’ve read my Holy-Grail Beauty Products blog, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of the Rimmel foundations, and they’re my number one go-to brand for foundations. I have tried a few slightly pricier products over the years such as the Liz Earle Signature Foundation, and Benefit Oxygen WOW, but have never felt that they warranted the £20+ price tag. Yes, they are good, but they are at the same level as my £8.99 Rimmel foundations too.
As you may already know, I’m one of the reviewers for the popular UK teeth whitening reviews site, Nice Gnashers. After trying out several different teeth whitening products over the last few months, I definitely have my favourites! So, to celebrate National Smile Month, I thought I’d share my top 5 teeth whitening products with you to help you achieve that perfect pearly smile:
The Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser has been a staple in my beauty regime for nearly two years now. I still remember the first day I stumbled upon the Liz Earle counter for the first time in a Boots store in Exeter – having only really noticed it as I heard that there was a new counter coming to our Boots store in Barnstaple! I was on the hunt for some new foundation and the lovely lady offered to make-up my face for a trial of the Signature foundation, but before she did so, she used the Hot Cloth Cleanser to take off my current makeup, and I instantly loved it. Thus, began my love of Liz Earle. I’ve mentioned this in my Holy Grail Make-up & Skincare Products.
I was browsing through Boots the other day on the hunt for some new Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish when I saw a new product on the shelves that peaked my interests. I’m a sucker for a new product; paired with the pretty packaging and promise of 72-hours of hydration I gave in to temptation and made a purchase. The bottle cost £9.99, which I don’t think is too bad for a moisturiser, and I got the concoction for Normal to Dry skin. It comes in a lovely-looking glass bottle that shade of bluey green you see in inspirational travel photos of the sea! So here’s what I thought of the product…
Have you got dry skin, itchy skin, problematic skin, normal skin, combination skin or any other kind? This is THE perfect product; it has solved so many of my skin issues over the last 12-months that I would class it as a ‘miracle product’. It is a simple recipe for a coffee scrub, which can be used on your face and body. It’s exfoliating and moisturising and smells INCREDIBLE.
My beauty obsession began almost 10 years ago now, and since then I have tried hundreds of products. Having recently slimmed down my beauty collection to the core basics and just a few extra special additions, I thought I’d share some of my Holy Grail items with you. These are products that I have been using for years and will probably continue to buy for the rest of my life as they are simply the best, better than all the rest! Is there anything you think I need to add? Let me know in the comments!
