Tried and Tested: Holy Grail Make Up & Skincare Products

My beauty obsession began almost 10 years ago now, and since then I have tried hundreds of products. Having recently slimmed down my beauty collection to the core basics and just a few extra special additions, I thought I’d share some of my Holy Grail items with you. These are products that I have been using for years and will probably continue to buy for the rest of my life as they are simply the best, better than all the rest! Is there anything you think I need to add? Let me know in the comments!

Collection Lasting Perfection

Collection 2000 Concealer

Preferred Shade: Fair

Price: £4.19

Are you even a blogger if you don’t own a Collection 2000 concealer? This concealer has to be one of the most talked about products there is, and for just £4.19, who could say no? I first started using this product aged around 13 when I first began experimenting with makeup, and have never been without since! Having once used this to cover pimples and unsightly marks, this is now my go-to eye brightening/highlighting product. I love to use it under my eyes with a great, light consistency that blends perfectly and it lasts all day. For special occasions, I then top this with a pretty glittery highlighter, and it sits just perfectly!

lash sensational mascara

Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara

Preferred Shade: Intense Black

Price: £8.99

This mascara is simply incredible. Before this, I had tried the Benefit Rollerlash and had LOVED it. But being a poor uni student at the time, I couldn’t afford the price tag for a replacement, and instead had to opt for something a little cheaper. The Maybelline Lash Sensational is the best mascara I’ve ever tried, and is an absolute bargain! I’ve seen so many other bloggers comment on this, and I have to agree, it’s amazing. I do have fairly long eyelashes naturally, but with even one quick coat of this mascara, they are so much fuller and longer. If you’re fishing for au natural eyelash compliments, this is definitely the product for you. INCREDIBLE.

Rimmel foundation

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation

Preferred Shade: 101 Ivory

Price: £7.99

Although Liz Earle are my favourite brand for foundation, I have to admit that my absolute go-to is the Rimmel Match Perfection. This foundation has the perfect consistency, a light to medium coverage and blends really well. For a fairly cheap product, I am very impressed with this one and the price is ultimately the reason it is my go-to. Having used this foundation for over 4-years now, it’s something I’ll forever have in my beauty drawer!

Liz Earle cleanse and polish

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Preferred Scent: Original

Price: £16.00 (starter pack)

This cleanse and polish changed my life around a year ago, and having re-purchased a few times, I’m not really sure what made me stop buying this product. My mum had a few spares (classic mum) and so kindly gifted me a fresh bottle a week or so ago, and it has instantly made my dry, spotty skin better and returned my healthy glow! The muslin cloth soaked in hot water that is used in combination with this offers a gentle exfoliation, while the product quite literally melts off my makeup. It doesn’t even matter how heavy my eye makeup has been for the day; it is never tricky to remove with my trusty Liz Earle. I buy mine from my local Boots store where we have a lovely lady running a counter. I’ve had a few fantastic experience trying out new skincare and makeup products at a counter with a little ‘mini makeover’ and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is not already sold on Liz Earle!

 l'oreal sleek it hair serum

L’Oreal Paris Studio Pro SLEEK IT Ultra Smoothing Cream

Price: £4.49

I use this product every day, and I love it. It does a multitude of jobs, from making my hair easier to brush or giving me a sleek and smooth finish. I prefer to use this on wet hair before brushing and drying, then if I’m doing a hair style that needs a sleek finish, I’ll pop a little extra on dry hair. You only need a tiny amount of product for it to make a difference, so it lasts for ages. I’ve been using this since the Studio Pro range was launched (a couple of years ago maybe?) and it is a definite hair care favourite!

Spectrum Brushes

Preferred Set: Pearly Queen: The Bomb Shell

Price: £4.99-£149.99

I won’t go on too much about these brushes again, if you want to read more on how much I love these brushes then check out my recent blog ‘5 Reasons Why You NEED To Invest In Spectrum Brushes’. The brushes are so dreamy and soft and look BEAUTIFUL, plus their makeup application is flawless, and that’s all I am saying for now!

These items have been staples in my beauty cupboard for years now, which products are your holy grails? I’d love to hear!

  1. I have tried the Collection concealer as well and I loved it so much but I can’t seem to find the right colour, so I stopped using it which is such a shame because the coverage is simply amazing – especially considering the price! I also love the Match Perfection foundation by Rimmel as well as the Maybelline Lash Sensational (although Essence do a great one, I love Xtreme, which is also amazing), so I totally agree with you 🙂 S. xx
